Meet Dr. Mike
Dr. Mike is a clinical psychologist, executive coach, and co-founder of Hardcore Humanism. He has over 30 years of experience in the study and practice of helping people with mental and physical health issues as well as personal and interpersonal growth. He attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate, Yale University for his Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and Brown University for his clinical internship and post-doctoral fellowship. During that time, he was fortunate to learn a range of approaches to the understanding and modification of human experience, including humanistic, cognitive and behavioral models.
Dr. Mike has co-authored several papers and book chapters on a range of issues in clinical psychology, has presented his work at both national and international conferences, and has conducted several workshops on the delivery of clinical care. He has received grant funding from the National Institute of Mental Health for the development of skills-based intervention programs for treatment of depression, as well as awards for this work from the Association for the Advancement of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy and Society for Behavioral Medicine.
Dr. Mike writes a regular blog for Psychology Today called Brick by Brick: Your Path to Hardcore Humanism. His writing has also been featured on CNN, USA Today, Fox News, Huffington Post and Everyday Health among other media outlets. Dr. Mike has appeared on numerous radio and television shows including CBS Sunday Morning, NPR, and Wall Street Journal Radio. He regularly gives corporate wellness talks, having presented at corporations such as Unilever, PricewaterhouseCoopers, MacQuarie Capital, and Center for American Progress. Dr. Mike has a clinical practice in New York City and lives with his wife and 2 children in Maplewood, NJ. In his free time Dr. Mike loves training in martial arts and working on music as a heavy metal vocalist.
